Car-free to your forest cabin
You don't need a car to stay with us in the Drents-Friese Wold. Take the train to Steenwijk or Meppel station, and the Hubtaxi takes you from there to the front door of your cabin. Groceries and rental bikes can be delivered. Your holiday starts on the train.

Four steps to your cabin
1. Take the train to Steenwijk or Meppel station. We always travel via Steenwijk ourselves. Coming by bus? Then the nearest hub is Dieverbrug bus station, between Diever and Dwingeloo.
2. Book the Hubtaxi with DVG Personenvervoer: 0800 – 82 94 225 (free from Dutch numbers). Booking is by phone only, at least one hour in advance. If you need to catch a train or bus afterwards, call at least two hours ahead and say that you are transferring.
3. Pay in the taxi. A single trip from Steenwijk station to your cabin costs about €5 per person. Your OV-chipkaart is not valid here.
4. Be on time. The taxi arrives between the agreed time and twenty minutes later, and waits no more than two minutes.
The Hubtaxi runs from 6:00 am to 1:00 am and also takes you back at the end of your stay. Anyone can use it; we have travelled this way ourselves. Bringing your dog? Mention it when booking, as pets are not always allowed. More information (in Dutch) at publiekvervoer.nl.
Grocery delivery
No need to carry heavy bags. Plus and Albert Heijn deliver to all six cabins. Order in good time and choose a delivery slot after your arrival time, so everything is ready for your first evening.
Bike delivery
Once you are here, a bike is the quickest way into the forest. Two rental companies deliver bikes to your cabin in Doldersum, Wateren or Oude Willem and collect them afterwards. With the third, you pick them up yourself in Doldersum.
Hulzinga Tweewielers from Elsloo delivers rental bikes to all six cabins. Rent for a week or longer and delivery and collection are free. They also rent children's bikes, e-bikes and cargo bikes.
Het Fytshûs in Appelscha has a wide range of bikes, from city bikes and e-bikes to mountain bikes, tandems and dog trailers. They deliver to all cabins; ask for a quote including delivery.
Cykel | Fietstransferium rents out e-bikes. You pick them up and return them at Grenzeloos Drenthe in Doldersum. Handy if you are staying in Boshuisje Doldersum or De Eekhoorn.
